Đây  là Chương trình Anh Ngữ Sinh Ðộng New Dynamic English bài 139. Phạm văn xin kính chào quí vị thính giả. Bài học hôm nay chú trọng vào hình thể và vị trí (shapes and locations) với chủ đề The sun is a circle  mặt trời là một vòng tròn. Ta nghe Jenny Chen nói chuyện về con trai của cô là  Jason thích vẽ. Ta sẽ nghe các từ ngữ: Model=người mẫu. To be married to=lập gia đình với ai. Jenny Chen is married to Richard Chen=Jenny Chen lập gia đình với Richard Chen. Ðộng từ bất qui tắc:To draw/drew/drawn=vẽ. To draw pictures=vẽ hình. 

Jason drew a tree and some flowers=Jason vẽ một cây và vài bông hoa. A shape=hình. Some other shape=hình khác. A circle=hình tròn [adj. CIRcular.] A square=hình vuông.  RECtangle=hình chữ nhật [adj. recTANgular.] TRIangle=hình  tam giác [adj. triANgular.]

Larry: New Dynamic English is a basic English language course and an introduction to American people and culture.

 Today’s unit is “The Sun is a Circle.”

MUSIC

Kathy: Hello, Max.

Max: Hi, Kathy.

 Who’s our guest today?

Kathy: Jenny Chen.

Max: Oh, yes.  She’s a model, and she’s married to Richard Chen.

 They have a child, don’t they?

Kathy: Yes, a son.  His name’s Jason.

 Today we’re going to talk about Jason.

Max: OK.  I’m looking forward to it.

Trong  đoạn tới Kathy hỏi chuyện Jenny Chen về cậu con trai Jason. Jenny’s son Jason likes to draw pictures.=cậu con trai Jason của cô Jenny thích vẽ hình. He drew a small circle for the nose, under the eyes.=cậu bé vẽ một vòng tròn nhỏ làm cái mũi, bên dưới đôi mắt. Clock=đồng hồ. Balloon=trái bong bóng. A basketball=bóng rổ. The sun is a circle.=mặt trời hình vòng tròn. To do together=cùng làm với nhau. A sunny day=một ngày có nắng.

 Jenny’s son Jason likes to draw pictures.

  How are you today?

 Kathy: Jenny, tell us a little about your son.
 
 Jenny: Jason....
 
  Well, he likes to draw pictures.
 
  It’s something we like to do together.
 
  First I draw a circle, a square, or some other shape.
 
  And then Jason draws a picture with that shape.
 
 Kathy: Can you give us an example?
 
 Jenny: Sure.
 
  Last night I drew a circle on a piece of paper.
 
  And I asked Jason, “What is it?”
 
 Kathy: What did he say?
 
 Jenny: He said, “It’s the sun.”
 
 Kathy: Yes, the sun is a circle.
 
 Jenny: And then he drew a tree and some flowers.
 
  And he made a picture of a sunny day.
 
 Kathy: Our guest is Jenny Chen.  We’ll talk more after our break.

  We’re talking about the pictures that her son Jason drew.
 
  Can Jason draw other pictures with circles?
 
 Jenny: Well, for example, this morning he drew a picture of a mouse.
 
 Kathy: A mouse?
 
 Jenny: Yes.  He drew a big circle for the head.
 
  Then he drew two circles next to each other    inside the big circle.
 
 Kathy: Those were the eyes?
 
 Jenny: That’s right.  Those were the eyes.
 
  Then he drew a small circle for the nose, under the eyes.
 
  Then he drew a mouth below the nose.
 
 Kathy: And what about the ears?
 
 Jenny: He drew a circle on each side of the head.
 
  Those were the ears.
 
 Kathy: You can make a lot of pictures with circles, can’t you?

Then he draws two squares for windows.=rồi cậu bé vẽ hai hình vuông làm cửa sổ. And  a rectangle for the door.=rồi cậu bé vẽ  một hình chữ nhật làm cửa ra vào. Doorknob=quả đấm cửa.
