Workshop: Getting married to foreigners
Time: 6h30-8h30, Thursday 4/10/2012

What comes up with your mind when thinking about marriage with a foreigner? Your love is deep enough to build a firm relationship and reach a happy marriage which of course is the one all of us want to pursuit, isn’t it? Whether difficulties in communication, differences of culture, etc… cause you to lose belief in the love out of country border or not? Come and join with GALEC 2 English Club this Thursday to discover those.

Part 1: Warm up (15 minutes)
Part 2: Free talk (35 minutes)
1. Do you have any standards to choose your spouse? Is your current idea of marriage different compared to your past one when you were a child?
2. Have you ever thought you may get married to a foreigner? What is the secret to a happy marriage with foreigners in your opinion?
3. Undeniable, Vietnamese people, especially Vietnamese girls have had tendency to be married to foreigners or to be exported to some particular countries such as China, Taiwan, Korea and so on. Do you think it has created the wider and wider trend? Why or why not?
4. Name some reasons making the rate of exported Vietnamese brides increase. What are troubles they have met when having such kind of marriage?
5. What do you think impacts that such mentioned marriage brings?
Part 3: Presentation and Q&A (30 minutes)
Part 4: Group (30 minutes)
1. Role-play: You love a foreigner and you think about the marriage with him/her. However, your parents disagree due to big culture differences. How can you persuade them to accept your marriage?
2. Draw your ideal partner in the future
3. A large number of exported brides/grooms have ever been up, which leads marriage to be considered as a kind of business and results in reducing meanings of marriage. Do you agree or not?
4. Role-play: You are arranged to get married with a Chinese man who can help your family get rid of poverty because he has paid a lot of money in order to bring you to his country. What should you do in this case?
