Tap viet van bang tieng anh.
Hue City
If you have an appropriate chance, I invite you come to visit Hue, one of the famous cities in Vietnam. First, Hue is well-known as a historical city with thousands of old relics and monuments besides modern buildings that have been raised up. Second, there are many natural beautiful views such as a long and gentle river flowing along the city named Huong-Perfume River. Third, you also have wonderful time enjoying Hue’s special dishes at home, restaurants, or on the side walk. Thus, with old relics, monuments, beautiful views, and wonderful foods, which make Hue, become one of the famous tourist cities in Vietnam; especially, Hue is listed in UNESCO organization.
First of all, Hue is a historical city because Hue had ever been a place where the royal families resided for hundreds of year such as Nguyen Lords, Trinh Sa. Therefore, many temples, shrines, and royal palaces were built to serve the Lords. As the time passed, Hue was in battles, most of the old constructions were destroyed, and the whole city fell to pieces. The rugged grandeur of the city was fallen down. Therefore, a tranquil atmosphere is embracing the whole city besides collapsed buildings restored carefully.
Second, natural beautiful sceneries are typical characteristics of Hue. The city is in the valley surrounded by the impressive Truong Son Mountain. The Huong-Perfume River originates from the Hong Linh Mountain, winding along the city to the sea. In the city, there is a humpback bridge built to connect two sides of the river named Truong Tuyen. Standing on the Truong Tuyen Bridge in the early morning, you can inhale and exhale fresh air and slight breezes coming together from the river. You also have an opportunity to watch the red sun rising up from the remote horizon. In the afternoon, from the Truong Tuyen Bridge, looking towards the Hong Linh Mountain, there is a yellow ball in the sky that gradually disappears in a mass of clouds. The night comes quickly. Hue is sunk in darkness. Street lamps are hanging up on lampposts. The city seems to be brightened up in
different color lights intermittently.
Finally, you will absolutely taste delicious foods at Hue. Hue’s food contains distinctive flavors such as hot and spicy. Have you ever tried baby clam rice-Com Hen, baby clam noodle-Bun Hen, and beef noodle-Bun Bo Hue? These foods are mostly popular flavors at Hue. Com Hen and Bun Hen are spicy. They are eaten with several vegetables carrying pleasant aromas, creating a typical odor for these foods. Moreover, you will feel hungry if you smell of the beef noodle soup boiling in a hot pot at any restaurant or in the market. The aroma of lemongrass is mixed up with shrimp sauce and chili into the soup. Wow! I can say it is extremely special.
There are many other things at Hue attracting tourists. A thousand visitors and tourists visit Hue annually, especially on the traditional holidays. Whoever has ever come to Hue, certainly, that person has had unforgotten emotions about the views and the foods at Hue. Since summer 2005 I have been to Hue once; I am telling my feelings to you. Enjoy Hue when you arrive there!

Thanks....
This is another story... It was my unexpected shock.
I often woke up at 6 o’clock every morning during the time I was in the dormitory on the campus of Nong Lam University. On the morning, June 12, 2005, as usual, I opened my eyes to greet a new day after I had a short time for sleeping; I stepped out of my bed to prepare everything for my classes. While I was doing my stuff, suddenly a small white butterfly flew toward my face. Therefore a random thought came up in my mind, and I asked myself, “What was the message carried by the butterfly?” I was genuinely worried and confused that some unfortunate things were happening.
As my sixth sense had just told me, I heard somebody calling me to answer the phone from downstairs. I rushed headlong to the office where the phone was; holding the phone, my hands shook and my heart throbbed strongly. I nervously listened to the other side that was a female voice-Hang-one of my friends who was talking to me at that moment. Hang’s voice was weak and unclear. Mumbling, she told me extremely shocking news that, “Huan just died”. As a light thunder crossing my ears, I dropped the phone and could not say any words in response to the information.
It was unbelievable news to me because I had just met Huan a week before; we chatted together happily and promised that we would come home together. Huan was a cheerful and hopeful boy; he had just graduated from college and was waiting to see his family at hometown. Following religions, each person has different destiny that was set by God. My friend-Huan forever left us at the age of twenty-one-the age of ambitious and hopefulness for future.
Huan’s death brought the physical and mental pain to all people who had loved him deeply. I saw all the members in his family grieving beside his body; especially, his mother was seriously hurt and her face was filled with tears. She tightly held all Huan’s clothes and touched on all the things that belonged to Huan; she constantly roamed beside his coffin. She was dizzy at times. My friends and I attended my dear friend’s funeral at the graveyard. We laid many flowers inside the hole and together we pulled sand to cover the hole. Huan was sent to another world and will never come back.
Today, on June 12 every year Huan’s family and my friends in Vietnam always do something to recall him. They visit his grave, clean up his new home, and burn incense to warm his place. They also prepare many kinds of foods for him. They pray for him quickly being in Heaven. To me, it was an unexpected shock because we were born at the same hospital, in the same town, and had the exact same date of birth. Moreover, we were growing up in the same hometown, and had ever been in the same classes for twelve years. Therefore, we had uncountable memories together. From the inside of my heart, I wish that Huan could be safe and protected from unwanted damages.

Oh! Seeing someone going to leave the world is not easy. It was a sad story. I would like to extend my sympathy with you.
This is a second time I read your essay I really enjoy your writing. However, with those words "Today, on June 12 every year Huan’s family and my friends in Vietnam always do something to recall him." , I think you are not in VN, do you?
A fact, it doesn't matter where you are, I am used to think and guess about people (authors) whose stories I have the great opportunities to read ( I am curious about authors, and that the way I get used to. Please accept my appology if that bothers you).
Again, I am so sorry about your friend.
Sincerely,
Song Kien

Umh, I am living in the United States. But, it is no matter where we are in the world, right?
Do you like ice cream? I am fond of it...
Most people are fond of sweet things such as candies, cookies, juice, soda, gelatin, and ice cream, especially children. As others, ice cream is one of my favorites. Because ice cream is cold, soft, and sweet, I used to have it once a day. I often eat ice cream when the weather is hot and there is no wind. When I was sick, ice cream became a motivation pushing me to win my illness. I also established a beautiful friendship with my friends while we were enjoying ice cream together. Thus, ice cream increased my inspiration and brought to me a true friendship.
When I was a child, I frequently begged my mom for an ice cream. Every time she went shopping at the market, I always reminded her, “Mom, please don’t forget my flavor!” Of course, I could not receive any snack from her if I did not do well for her standards; for instance, making my bed and cleaning room neatly and finishing my homework. Therefore, I had to be honest and obey my mom. I tried to make my mom happier so that I could certainly have my ice cream.
I remember clearly on the days I was terribly sick, ice cream became a strong motivation for me. I has rheumatism. All my ankle, elbow, finger, knee, toe, and wrist joints were horribly swollen. I was seriously hurt and could not walk although just one short step. To be treated fully, the doctor said that I need to drink Chinese medical herbs. This medicine was a liquid, quite bitter, and had a strong smell. I obstinately refused to drink it. My mom always advised and said to me tenderly, “If you finish this bowl of medicine, I will buy ice-cream for you every day.” When I heard that, I was extremely happy. Obviously, I forgot the bit; I closed my eyes, holding my breath, and drank all the liquid. I had done that for two months. Finally, my illness was treated completely, and I gradually became healthier.
Later on, when I was in higher grades, I was often hanging around with my friends. On hot summer days or on moonlit nights, we frequently visited a former ice cream kiosk. Sometimes, after school, we rode on small bicycles with sticks of ice cream in our hands. While we were licking and tasting our sweets, we were continuously sharing our secrets to each other. Our worries about school, homework, and family in an instant vanished. With ice cream, my friends and I gradually became closer.
In my memory, ice ream which I used to eat was not made with special ingredients such as chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, and so on. I think it was made with sugar, coconut milk, coffee, and condensed milk. Moreover, its cost was cheap. Just with less than one penny, I could have a bag of ice cream. However, it contained all peculiarities of ice-cream, cold, soft, and sweet. Ice cream used to be one of my wonderful things.
Today, I have tried many kinds of new delicious ice-cream, but I do not have any strong emotion as before. Perhaps I am now a mature adult, I automatically respond to what I should do or not without begging for any sweet thing such as an ice cream. Certainly, I know how to take care of myself such as taking medicine whenever I am sick.Furthermore, my best friends and I are completely separated by a long distance, Vietnam and the United States. Therefore, I could not have wonderful time fiddling around and tasting ice cream with them. However, as many people, I would like to have an ice cream as a popular snack on hot days.

This is a story from Chinese ''The Golden Touch''
There once was a king. He was very rich. The king loved two things: his little daughter and his gold. He had many rooms full of gold, but he was not happy. He wanted to have more gold. One day the king was in his garden. A strange man came to see him. The stranger told the king to make a wish. The king said,''I wish to have more gold.'' ''I will help you get your wish,'' the stranger answered.''Tomorrow morning, everything you touch will change to gold.'' The next morning the king got up early. He touch a chair, a flower, and a table. Everything changed to gold. The king was very happy. He sat down to eat breakfast, but his food turned to gold when he touched it. He thought,''If I can't eat anything, I will die.'' Then his daughter came in to the room. She ran to her father. But when he touched her, she changed to gold too.The king was very sad. He walked alone in his garden. Then he saw the stanger again. ''Oh'' cried the king,''please take back my wish, I do not want any more gold. ''All right,'' said the stranger,''If you really sure this time,I will take back your wish.'' After that, the king was not as rich, but he was wiser and happier

To Hatnang,
It doesn't matter where you are, it is Just a topic for discussing or learning about author and author's ideas. In additions, I like to confirm that I understood your ideas. As you know when we study ESL, we usually study reading and writing. In reading, we study each lesson, chapter and novel, then we have some statements about story, author and author's ideas for class discussing. To prove and support my statements, I emphasized and brought up some ideas that authors wrote in his/her books. I really enjoyed feedback and ideas from other students although most of them were against my statement. Sometimes I was right, but most the times I was wrong. Win or lose was hard to tell, but I learned and lived with it, and I hoped I would be growing up from my mistakes. You know, I have a few friends sending their complaints to me. It said, their Patients didn't visit them often because they have ice cream instead visiting them. :) :) :)
Thanks for your response, and you have a great weekened.
Sincerely,
Song Kien

Hi Hatnang,
That is! ! ! there are only three stories??? I thought I would have a great opportunity to read more your stories. Come on lady! I know you can do it! :) :) :). After learning about your three stories, I can guess about you "the author". You should be a pretty girl and about 24 years old. Your home town was Hue, and left Viet Nam around 2006. The reason you left Viet Nam, you might listen to your heart. I may be wrong, but I just based on your journal. As I said before, I was used to be wrong when I brought a statement from learning about author for dicussing in my class, and now if I am wrong, it isn't much different, right? :) :) :) Besides, writing is your instinct, so please going on live with it, and I hope if I could, I will be your royal reader. As my plan, I am going to visit Hue on December of VN. for a week, and now I am learning all about Hue as I can (thank you for your information about Hue). Most Hue people speak "răng, rứa, mô . . . ." very hard to understand. How do you think about those? also one more thing, Do you know Âm phủ restaurant? It should be a famous restaurant. Personally, I will come there and try the food, but I am so nervous for not knowing what food is it? It's great if you can tell me more specific places about Hue. I expect to hear from you. Thank you in advance and have a great long weekend.
Sincerely,
Song Kien
