To inf
To inf được dùng trong 3 trường hợp:
1-Như 1 danh từ:
a)Subject:
Ex: To run across the shool isn't difficul.
b)V+To inf+O-Sau các từ như:
-agree,arange,decide,choose,expect,hope,promise,manager,refuse,would like,want..
Ex:I would like to have dinner.
I decided to help him.
I hope to see you soon.
-advise,allow,ask,enable,encourage,pursuade,remind,warm,trust...
Ex:They warned us not to drive very fast on this road.
She asked him to go out.
Mr.Hung encouraged me to pay a visit to you.
*1 vài động từ có thể được theo sau bằng mệnh đề:what,how,then,where,which.
Ex:I want to call you but i don't know what to say.
I want to have a decide to meet you but i don't know how to do.
c)To inf có thể được dùng làm tân ngữ cho chủ ngữ để bổ nghĩa cho chủ ngữ:
Ex:The most important thing is to sing beautifully.
d)To inf+Adj-Bổ nghĩa cho tính từ:
Ex:I'm sorry to trouble you.
This math problem isn't easy to solve
*Adj+noun=to inf
Ex:That was a wicked thing to say.
*It is/was + for someone + to inf(dùng để nói đến 1 việc)
It is/was + of someone +to inf(dùng để nói đến 1 người)
Ex:It is so kind of you to do that.
2-Như 1 tính từ:
Thay cho relative trong 3 trường hợp sau:
a)Chỉ mục đích:
Ex:Do you have the car to drive to your company?
Water to drink is rate in the desert.
"the car là mục đích của drive-water là mục đích của drink"
b)Sự bắt buộc:
-Have/Ought+to inf
Ex:We've got a few jobs that we have to do.
c)Đặt sau:
So sánh nhất-ex:he is the oldest man to live in my town.
The next/only-Ex:The next examination to do isn't easy.
The first/second(nói chung là thứ tư-Ex:This was the first storm to flooded homes.
3-Như 1 trạng từ;
a)Too(quá...không thể)
-S + be + linking verbs + too + adj +to inf
-S + verb + too + adj + to inf
Ex:He too short to play basketball.
It's too cold to swim.
b)Enough(Đủ...có thể)
-S + be + linking verbs + Adj + enough(for O)+ to inf
-S + V + Adv + enough(for O)+ to inf
Ex:She speak english well to become an interpreter
