cho mình hỏi 02 câu sau câu nào đúng
He studied very hard so that he could pass the test.
He studied very hard so that he can pass the test.
Both sentences are Ok.
According to English Grammar Book I have read. It says:
Sometimes could is the past of can. But we also use could to talk about possible action now or in the future (especially to make suggestions). The meaning is similar to might or may
Ex: Husband: What shall we do this evening?
Wife: We could go to the cinema
(They are reading a newspaper about cinema)
Can is also possible in these sentences. However, with could, the suggestion is less sure.
And we also use could(not can)for actions which are not realistic. (Can use for actions which are realistic).
Ex: I am so tired, I could sleep for a week (not can).
Moreover, we also use could to say that sb had a general ability or permission to do sth.
Ex: My father could speak 5 languages.
We were totally free. We could do what we wanted.(We were allowed to do)

cám ơn bạn nhiều nhé, mình hỏi như thế là vì trong cấu trúc so that ghi rằng động từ ở mệnh đề sau so that phải lùi một thời so với thời của động từ ở mệnh đề chính. Mình hiểu ý câu này là:
simple present so that simple past
ex: I study hard so that I had a good job
Mình cảm thấy thắc mắc vì mình nghĩ rằng phải là:
simple past so that simple present
ex: I studyed hard so that I have a good job
